DESCRIPTION: We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Logistics
Manager to oversee and optimize our supply chain operations,
focusing on home goods and furniture. The ideal candidate will be
responsible for managing the end-to-end logistics process,
including fulfillment, freight delivery, and importing. This role
emphasizes enhancing shipping efficiency, reducing costs, and
delivering an exceptional customer experience.
Logistics Manager RESPONSIBILITIES:Inbound & Outbound Logistics
Management
- Oversee inbound shipments from overseas and domestic
vendors.
- Supervise the movement of outgoing inventory, ensuring timely
and accurate fulfillment of customer orders.
- Coordinate freight, customs clearance, and warehousing
logistics to avoid delays.
- Partner with carriers to secure competitive rates, resolve
shipping issues, and maintain high service levels.
- Analyze logistics performance data to identify trends,
inefficiencies, and areas for improvement.
- Prepare regular reports on shipping costs, carrier performance,
and inventory turnover for senior management.
- Collaborate with warehouse teams to implement best practices
for packing, labeling, and dispatching shipments.
- Oversee the in-house delivery team, ensuring efficient local
deliveries to customers.
- Manage inter-store transfers, ensuring stock is moved between
locations as needed.
- Work with Retail and Warehouse Teams to prioritize urgent
deliveries and store replenishments.Freight and Shipping Operations
- Develop and execute cost-effective transportation strategies
for domestic and international freight shipments.
- Oversee shipment tracking and promptly address any delays to
meet delivery timelines.
- Use technology to optimize freight planning, routing, and
scheduling for efficiency.
- Manage damage or loss claims with carriers, ensuring quick
resolution and minimal impact on customer satisfaction.
- Oversee in-house white-glove delivery operations, ensuring
customer satisfaction and minimizing damage or returns.
- Monitor delivery KPIs such as on-time delivery rate, transit
time, and cost per shipment.
- Support cross-functional teams with logistics for photoshoots,
product transportation, setup, and breakdown.Import Management
- Supervise the importation of goods, ensuring compliance with
customs and trade regulations.
- Prepare required documentation, including bills of lading,
invoices, and import/export licenses.
- Coordinate with customs brokers, freight forwarders, and
regulatory bodies to expedite clearance and minimize delays.
- Stay updated on changes in trade policies, tariffs, and duties,
adjusting import strategies accordingly.
- Accurately calculate landed costs (freight, duties, taxes) to
inform pricing and budgeting, collaborating with procurement
teams.Truck Management
- Oversee the management of company-owned trucks used for
deliveries and transportation.
- Ensure compliance with California state regulations, including
vehicle maintenance and driver qualifications.
- Schedule regular inspections, maintenance, and repairs to
prevent downtime and ensure safety standards.
- Maintain records of vehicle registrations, insurance, and
permits.
- Implement driver safety programs to promote compliance and
minimize risk.
- Stay informed about changes in transportation laws and
environmental regulations in California.Cross-Functional
Collaboration
- Partner with management, procurement, sales, and customer
service teams to align logistics strategies with business
goals.
- Develop strong vendor and supplier relationships to ensure
consistent service quality.
- Collaborate with finance teams to manage budgets, control
expenses, and perform cost analyses.Team Leadership
- Lead and mentor a team of logistics coordinators and staff,
fostering a culture of accountability and continuous
improvement.
- Ensure compliance with health, safety, and legal regulations
across logistics operations.
Logistics Manager QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics,
Business Administration, or a related field.
- 5+ years of experience in logistics or supply chain management,
preferably in an eCommerce or home goods/furniture
environment.
- Proven experience managing white-glove delivery services is
highly desirable.
- 5+ years of experience in logistics, freight, or supply chain
management, with a focus on outgoing shipments and imports.
- Familiarity with domestic and international shipping
regulations, including customs compliance.Logistics Manager SKILLS:
- Strong knowledge of logistics software and tools.
- Experience with Netsuite
- Excellent negotiation, analytical, and problem-solving
skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and projects in a
fast-paced environment.
- Strong leadership and communication skills with the ability to
collaborate across departments.
