Special Instructions to ApplicantsA resume, cover letter and completed application are required to be considered for this role.Please note - this is a HYBRID rolePosition SummaryWhen you join the UCLA School of Theater, Film and Television (TFT) as the next Assistant Director of Annual Giving, you will be a valued member of our fundraising team and part of a School driven by a vision to give students the means to challenge constructs as multifaceted artists and scholars, filled with the knowledge, insight and point of view to create meaningful experiences. For us, storytelling is at the heart of their curriculum, where UCLA's talented TFT faculty members have won many meaningful, artistic accolades in the performing and visual arts; including 101 Academy Award nominations, 81 Golden Globe nominations, 388 Emmy nominations and 26 Tony nominations. You too will work with us as a storyteller as you create unique print and digital materials to engage and solicit our alumni and constituents for annual gifts, create stewardship events for our annual giving donors and provide other means to engage and solicit our alumni and constituents. Working closely with TFT and Development leadership and colleagues, you will capture, analyze and report on our annual giving data, as well as identify needs, priorities and resources relevant to alumni programming and work on alumni projects. In addition, you will also be responsible for special writing assignments and donor relations projects to further the breadth and depth of our ability to share the many stories of our renowned faculty and alumni.   • Minimum of two years' demonstrated experience working in a fundraising environment and/or prior professional experience in a related field such as sales, marketing or business development. (Required)
  • Experience with a Blackbaud CRM system or equivalent database and the use of databases to generate reports. (Preferred)
  • Working knowledge of the principles and practices of fundraising at a research university or institution of equivalent complexity. (Required)
  • Excellent written communication skills to compose, proofread and edit a variety of correspondence and reports for correct grammar, punctuation, spelling and syntax; ability to write creative/persuasive solicitations, acknowledgements, reports and other fundraising-related pieces. (Required)
  • Strong communication skills to collect and convey information with accuracy, diplomacy and tact; ability to persuasively express the mission of the University and the fundraising goals of the campus in relation to annual giving. (Required)
  • Detail-oriented with ability to take initiative, work independently and accept responsibility; adept at setting priorities and managing workflow to fulfill objectives and meet goals according to deadlines in a fast paced environment. (Required)
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team with well-developed interpersonal skills to work collaboratively with colleagues and to build/sustain lasting relationships with a wide variety of internal/external constituents. (Required)
  • Proficiency with Microsoft suite of applications, as well as familiarity with other database, spreadsheet, scheduling and email applications. (Required)
  • Knowledge of database management and manipulation sufficient to retrieve data and isolate specific market segments. (Required)
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of donor files and other information as appropriate and to use discretion when responding to inquiries. (Required)
  • General knowledge of basic gift terminology and of the application of writing skills to a fundraising program. (Preferred)Education, Licenses, Certifications & Personal Affiliations
